According to Laura Shin, writer for Forbes.com, "LinkedIn should show case everything you have done that does not fit on your resume." Since I have made my own LinkedIn account and explored it I still am not sure what I really am supposed to use it for. I understand the professional connections you make on the site and how other professionals can look at your profile and get a better idea of what you have done professionally. I don't quite understand why I would engage in LinkedIn besides looking for job openings and what my connections are doing with their job. LinkedIn is a social media site that I wont be visiting very often, maybe just to update my profile. In the article I read to better understand what the majority of people are using the site for they suggested to stay active on the site to show people you are doing well in your job. To do this they said to share links related to other people within your industry.
Maybe I will use the site more when I have graduated and have industry things to post about but at this point all I plan on doing is keeping my profile up to date so future employers are able to see what I have done and what I am trying to do.
